Together with Edwin Loos, my dear friend and Editor in Chief of the culinary magazine Culinaire Saissonier, we celebrated life with a glass of Nicolas Feuillatte champagne and enjoyed a great lunch at Ron Blaauw’s Gastrobar.
Ed started with some fresh oysters and I took some frog legs with Szechuan pepper and garlic. (did I really hear myself ordering that just now? After my culinary experiences somewhere deep in China I promised myself not to eat these kind of limbs or certain domestic animals anymore I can remember..)
Apparently it had to be because they were exquisite! So tender, so nicely spicy! Yummie!!
Followed by the colorful Romain lettuce with green curry, cucumber, avocado and melon, the artichoke with lavender, orange and piment.
As main course we took the red mullet with bouillabaisse, opperdoezer ronde, saffron and glasswort and ending with some delicious cheeses: Bleu de Causses, Maroilles, Délices de Bourgogne.
As dessert we shared the rhubarb tartelette with swiss cream, rose water and kombucha.
Very much surprised as well by the very friendly and dedicated staff!! Conclusion: it was a wonderful lunch in all aspects!
TIP!
The star of Ron Gastrobar: Rons boneless spareribs. Extra thick, incredibly tender and boneless.
